BSA106- Animation

Has that funny British humor. Uses cutouts

Uses a lot of colour and shapes in their basic forms, fluid animation. A very interesting animation.

Interesting use of colour and backgrounds. Use of high angels that look down. Animation is very cutout styled. It is quite static. There is a lot of texture to the backgrounds and characters. Music represents the sounds of movement and speech. There is an animated movie that we used to watch in primary school, that also used music as sounds of movement and speech. I think it was called Peter and the Wolf.

The style is very Chinese, they use a lot of curved lines and flow animation. The music is very loud and almost jarring to the ear. I really like the backgrounds, they are detailed and interesting to look at.

An interesting style of animation. I think the background colour represents the mood.

A very different style of animation compared to other countires. The sparkle effect is the same used for Tinkerbell in Peter Pan I think.

A lot of animation comment of society, especially the European ones. This was a very boring animation.

The netflix adpation of Cybord 009 looks weird since it uses that 3D but looks kinda 2D animation. The movie looks super weird and gimmicky.

Top notch stuff.

Is this what Hotel Transilvania is based off?

Very cute, reminds me of Charlie Brown.

Asterix the Gaul comics are great, my grandparents has a couple and I read them a lot. Animation does look cheap, the characters are slightly different to comics.

Looks like an elaborate child's toy set up. Very cute animation.

It's hard for my eyes to pick out what is happening in this animation at the start. Backgrounds look like scrapped oil paint. It is all brown and red. Cutout animation.  Red dude looks like Filthy Frank.

Cosmic Zoom was odd. All I can think of is google earth and the Dunedin trip in the Planetarium.

Looks like rorschach test at the start.

Top notch stuff. Pretty cool

Pretty good for working out of a cow shed. Cute mouse characters.

BVA103-Week Three Challange

Parallax Effect

Feedback on Slide

  • I like the idea of taking something like a digital painting and adding that element of movement, I think particularly with the Synth-wave aesthetic a lot of really cool lighting effects could be used
  • Cool Idea, might be too ambitious to do three of them
  • References on point, done her research, Excellent.
  • Easy to understand
  • This idea looks awesome! Just please don't overwork yourself. 3 animations seems to be a bit to ambitious.
  • Delivered her powerpoint well, she has a good general idea of what she wants to do
  • I like the way you're looking foward with your project, No doubts it will be excellent

I am going to try to do three digital paintings. I will definitely animate at least two.

For the animal in the wilderness, I want to do a wolf howling at the moon, this will be a nice and simple movement. I also want to animate clouds moving in the background with the stars moving up along the sky.

For the female in space, the sun will be animated rising over the hills, might make it transition into the moon, so when the sun leaves the frame the moon rises in the suns place. The female with have small movements such as a sway, eye blink and hair movement. I already have a sketch ready for this one.

For the male in the nightclub, he will be in a dancing pose that will move enough to look like he is dancing. I will have to find a simple dance pose that represents something to do with the 80's, the disco ball will spin around and reflect light, there will be lights in the background that change colour.

All will be looped, 30 seconds at most. I want to display them side by side on a large TV. All the lighting for these will be fun to play with, I will be able to play with a lot of lighting techniques.

BSA106-Cinema Vertie and Direct Cinema

The advances in technology over a short period of time are pretty amazing. It makes filming easier

Interesting differences between both techniques, they have similar outcomes but very different methods.

People react differently when there is a camera, it reminds me of a piece of advice. If you are in an argument, act like you are being recorded, you are less likely to trip up over words or say something you shouldn't. It feels more authentic when they are able to interact with the film-makers.

It felt more like a film that a documentary, there is something that feels unnatural about this type of filming. I think a documentary is better when the subject can interact with the film-makers. With exceptions to animals, but even then they interact. This type of documentary feels and looks like a badly written film.

Direct Cinema works for documentaries when you want more realistic reaction, but it only works if they don't know they are being filmed. With a concert this chaotic, it reminds me of the move The Green Room.
It is a topic that I would love to discuss with some people. To what point is it ethically and morally wrong? I think that you should never exploit a subject for the name of entertainment. The documentary about Dee Dee Blanchard has now been made into a Hulu orginal called The Act, they shouldn't be exploiting the horrors of what happended with Gyspy and her mother to create entertainment.
Gyspy's Response to the show.
"I am unable to watch The Act. However, I feel it is very unfair and unprofessional that producers and co-producer Michelle Dean has used my actual name and story without my consent, and the life rights to do so. Therefore, there will be legal action taken against the show's creators. I want to share my story and bring awareness about Munchausen by proxy, in the hopes that I can encourage those who might be experiencing abuse to speak up, because someone WILL listen. No child should ever be abused especially from their parent." (Gahllagher, Mar 20, 2019) https://www.bustle.com/p/what-does-gypsy-rose-blanchard-think-of-the-act-she-wasnt-involved-in-the-show-16961642
This reminds me of the Stanford Prison Experiment.
Documentaries are great, I think that more movie studios should do documentaries, to break up some of the bad movies that come out.
