BSA106-Games and Films of the 80s

Pac Mac is a fun time waster of a game. Interesting to see how the name came about and what inspired him.

Text games like this are extensive and long. Very much like a choose your own adventure book.
Kings quest has the same look and a game i have played where you play as a dragon.

Donkey Kong! Always good fun.

I think its amazing that she saw a similar interface and decided to create video games. More females should be able to go into the video game industry, and we are starting to see more of this now.

Game based films aren't as big now. The one I think of the most is Jumanji, but that is board gamed based for the first one and then video game for the second one.

Some films have made it into video games. Mostly lego ones though, such as LoTR, Star Wars and Batman.
There is a Sonic the hedgehog game that was rushed and didn't sell well just like E.T.

Now everything is very expensive. Gaming is a fantastic hobby but unfortunately so expensive to play the newer titles and consoles.

Games became so advertised towards boys that people get so surprised when females play games on the consoles.
The industry needs to advertise towards all genders, more money would be made.

Famicon is such a weird name.

That is a terrifying Mule. The music is fantastic though. This seems like a weird strategy game. I cant say I really understand it.

Tetris, heck yea. The new Tetris soundtrack is great.

Tetris is a great game.

Nintendo saves games. They market towards males.

I dont think I played any educational games. But Mum did like the puzzle mini games in Final Fantasy 13-2, she thought they were much better than the fighting parts of the game.

Multi-CD games are still around. Finla Fantasy 13 and Witcher 2 have two disks.

One of the biggest and well-known games ever.

And now the sport games have come to play.  Is this where FIFA started.

GAME BOY! I used to have one and play pokemon on it. I had the Gameboy and Game boy  advance

Starting to get into the Kinect and Wii games.

All well known films. They were made to make merchandise and money

All weird looking movies.

Lots and Lots of horror films filled the 80s

BVA142-Exquisite Corpse Full Collaboration

The full collaboration of our class

BVA103-Daily Post

Deliberately creative.

How do I work?

I work in blocks of time, try to get it done early so I have refinement time. For my current project in BVA103, I use both blocks of class time to work on it. So roughly 3-4hrs every week.

Erika Lancaster has a blog on time management as an artist. She explains how to plan everything out, especially around things such as day jobs. The way she plans everything out takes everything into account. Perhaps I should try doing this, although my current way of working on my projects is working, I can make better management of my time.

Scheduling my classes and out of class time would be very beneficial. If I put this into a visual format then I can see which blocks of free time I have and work them out accordingly.

Another person I have found who works in time blocks is Chase Jarvis. One thing I found that would be particularity helpful from his blog is setting a specific time to workout. Since I sit down all the time, I need to actually use my gym membership and go at least 3 times a week.

I need to do some more reading of these blogs and create a schedule using these methods to help me manage my time better. This way I can work on my projects to the highest quality in the most effective manner.

BVA127-Daily Post 8 rigging

Rigging!

We learnt how to rig and use the node view in Toon Boom Harmony. I think I will use rigging for my basic movements in my animation, Especially for my side views.

The arm is a wee bit wobbly but so far rigging seems pretty easy. The hardest part will be doing all the cutouts of my characters in order to rig them. I should look at my animatic and see which positions and sides I can rig.

DEFROMERSSSSS

They weird but handy

BVA124-Lighting

Lighting video notes

Lighting affects the mood of the animation.
Very close to theater lighting, must be robust and repeatable.
Very precise lighting

use for mesh for more natural lighting

Animators clothing can affect lighting. keep everything the same.

Two lamps to counter out strobing effect.

More powerful light in front of and at 45 angle, position lamp behind subjects. nice shadows and stuff.

Translucent paper will help cut flashing and strobing effects.

BVA103-Project Update

Here is my project so far. Both are coming along nicely and soon I will be able to start animating them.

I want to change the style and colours of my character. I think I am going to make her look more like a comic book character as the realism aspect of her isn't really working out. i think that before I try changing her style, I am going to do a grey scale version and try to paint her realistically.

The dancer is coming out nicely.

BSA106-80s animation

80's animation woooooo

Very typical for what I consider the 80's to be. Impractical outfits for female characters and weirdness all around.

Yeesh.

You can tell that this animation was started in a different era. Judging by the previous slides this one is awfully family friendly unlike the more adult animations.

Stopmotion animation. Weirdly enough everyone is an animal but some act like humans while some stay as animal

Still no idea. But I might do an animation sequence of how the characters break into others ad experimentataion.

Interesting. Minimal but effective. Extremely fluid animation

            The animation is lovely

This is some weird animation. I love it.

More modern version of animation and live action are
Grolliaz Strobelite

I used to see this at like 12am when the tv 'stopped'

pretty cool animation. Shows how hard it is for someone to change their ways

Looks like an animation I want to watch

Creepy as heck. Really don't like dolls that move.

its pretty cool. I've heard the song a few times

This was funny but also hard to watch with its flashy colours and fast moving lines.

That is a horrible kid. I really hate this family.

80's japan animation was very sci-fi

I plan on watching this.

Claymation is pretty cool, whole animation is weird though
